Martesha D. Collins

This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Martesha Collins (Legend In The Making) in October 2016. Martesha found a need in her community and actively set in place this organization to go forth and reform her community. She discovered her passion for the youth first through her Spoken Word/Poetry performances in various underserved and low-income communities. Once she gained the hearts and ears of those in her community she gained a desire to press forward which led her to giving back physically. Martesha has years of experience with troubled youth and urban communities. She has worked in several arenas throughout her tenure, that includes but are not limited to the dependency, juvenile justice, health insurance, long-term care and mental health systems. Martesha planned, funded and facilitated (with the help of local churches and individual donors) a Back To School Drive in her Community on August 26, 2016 where she was able to give away 100 book bags and tote bags filled with supplies! That was the start of start of a raging fire to save the children at risk of failing in the Miami Dade County Public School System. Martesha now hosts annual and weekly events to assist those in need in the communities that she serves. Martesha has received her Bachelor's Degree and Certificates in 2017 from Florida Atlantic University with concentrations in Communication, Family & Society, and Women's studies. She received another Bachelor's degree in 2018 from Florida International University in Interdisciplinary Studies. In 2020, she also received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Barry University. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate degree (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology with a focus track in Neuropsychology.
